Every year Ferrero purchases more than 100,000 tons of cocoa beans to be processed in our plants. Our priority is not only to ensure a high-quality cocoa supply, but also to support farmers in acquiring the necessary know-how for both sustainable farming and for improving their livelihood. In order to attain 100 % certified sustainable cocoa goal by 2020, we cooperate closely with certifying standards to support sustainability along the whole cocoa supply chain. By doing so, the farmers will be able to enhance their agricultural practices, increase the cocoa quality and yield, acquire new managerial skills and improve their livelihood.
Currently, the Ferrero Group is sourcing certified as sustainable cocoa beans through farms that are certified by one of our partners: UTZ Certified, Rainforest Alliance Certified™ and Fairtrade.
